Those Late Nights by Sara - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

College offers many new experiences that you don't get to have when you're in high school. You get to meet hundreds of new people, explore classes you're interested in, and start to learn what it's like to live on your own. There is one experience, however, that although I may not look forward to going through it, I'll be thankful that I did.
There are those nights you're going to have when you're up until two in the morning working on homework, or a project, or studying for some test you have the next day. Your stress level will probably be through the roof and you'll be totally exhausted. Going through this won't be fun in the least, but the lesson you can take from them will be highly significant later in life.
When we all graduate college and enter the "real world" as adults, we'll be having those nights all over again but with different projects and issues. Maybe we have a report due for work the next morning, or our kids will be up all night sick and we still have to get to our jobs on time the next morning. And we'll be so frustrated and be thinking how horrible things feel in the moment, but then we'll remember those few nights in college. We'll remember that we survived the night and woke up the next day and kept going. And we'll look back on that night and realize now how that one night felt like the end of the world at the time, but now it's practically insignificant. And we'll suck it up and get through one rough night and continue on with life the next morning.
