As a Senior in high school, there are many pieces of advice I could tell the underclassmen, but in my eyes that would be taking away from them. As an underclassmen I didn't have any older students give me true advice and I'm glad I didn't. It taught me some very important life lessons, and if I would have had that advice given to me I probably would have never learned those lessons.
The truth is I would be lying if I said that I wasn't told the typical always do my work or to never show up late to class speech, but did I honestly learn from those speeches? Absolutely not. I might have always did my work but did I honestly never show up late to class? Of course I did. It's apart of being human. Bottom line: kids are going to do what they want to do no matter what they are told.
So to answer your question, my piece of advise would be to try to always do your work, try to always show up early to class, but that sometimes it's okay to have fun. Be a kid while you still have the chance to be one! The life lessons will come. Trust me, you will know it when it hits you.
