The Leader and the Follower by Samuel - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
If you are not a leader, you are a follower. There is no in between. Being a follower can be a good thing and a bad thing. It truly depends on the context. College for example can make or break you. It usually breaks the followers, because they follow a crowd that loves to party and hang out, and following such a crowd leads to sleeping in, missing classes, and low test grades. This ultimately leads to academic suspension or probation. These consequences come from being a follower.
Now if one were to have leadership skills in a situation where a friend or group of friends always wanted to hang out. Then those leadership skills will come in handy when deciding how saying yes or no to a request would effect their future. Leadership skills can also be fantastic when working on a project with a group or playing a sport with a team. It helps the individual to work better with others. If one is able to work well with others in a team or group, progress and results are always seen. Good results to be specific. Good results lead to good grades. Good grades lead to good recommendations. Good recommendations lead to good jobs. This all starts with leadership skills. The chain reaction to having leadership skills in a college setting is only positive. If one is looking to succeed and have positive results in college then leadership skills are necessary.
