’What is your ultimate strategy for success on a school project?’ Samira Harris, Junior by Samira - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

My ultimate strategy for success while starting a school project is to make a step by step plan; organizing different days and milestones to assign myself. I make to-do lists of what I need to have done by the end of the week. Setting easy and achievable goals that I can accomplish by the end of the day, I then will cross it off my list and move on to the next step. By making a step by step plan I feel I have more flexibility with the rest of my schedule. Considering how busy I’ve been this year, I don’t have as much time to work on a project all day. Step by step plans are more manageable than a general list, it helps me have great organization and it helps me be more accountable.

Along with the step by step planning, I like to place a timeline to do the activity, if I give myself a specific time range, my schedule can be accurate, and I don’t have to worry about what I should be doing in that time frame, my day is already planned out! It also gives me complete control over my schedule if something were to change in my schedule, depending if I get extra time or less time; Giving me more practice on how to manage my time more effectively for my future career and education. Also teaching me to hone my skills of goal setting. If I manage my time more efficiently I could have free time or prepare for the next step of the project. The benefit of managing my time with projects is having less to stress along with the great feeling of not having wasted your time, feeling accomplished!

Finally, motivation for the project, having a positive vibe while doing the project makes the project more enjoyable and worthwhile. Motivation makes me highly productive when doing the task and lessens room for complaints. It also steers me to my goals at a faster rate; Giving me a sense of responsibility as I grow as a person. I maintain engaged for the rest of project submitting my best work, and getting a great grade.

In conclusion, my strategy for success on a school project is planning, being well organized and motivated, therefore giving me a better chance at having a successful and accomplished project.
