Continued Learning by Samantha - March 2018 Scholarship Essay

Second grade student are children who still do not understand the importance of school. They go mostly to see and play with their friends. Also most of the time, their parents do not think about continued education. They too send their children to school just so they can get them out of their heads for a few hours. However continued education must be taught at an early age, such second or third grade. Thus in order to tell a second grader about the importance of continued education, you must speak to them in a way only they can understand.
One way you can speak to them is by telling them not about college or grades, but by asking them what they want to be when they grow up. This is the most important question a child gets asked throughout their school careers. Next you will tell that child that in order to become that they must try very hard to get there, such as doing their best in school and never giving up. Maybe once that child grows up they change their mind, but they at least did their best academically. Which is one of the most important aspects schools look for in their students.
In conclusion, telling a second grader about the importance of continued learning might be difficult. However the only thing you can ask them that will grab their attention, is with the most important question they will look up to in the future, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”
