The Woman Who Opened My Eyes. by Samantha - July 2014 Scholarship Essay
She was there on my first day of high school, and she’s been there ever since. The one woman who has shown me that there is more to teachers than books and homework, the woman who pushed me to do the best I possibly can, the woman who made me believe that my education is everything and its not to just make me crazy over homework and grades. Her name, Ms. Pam Jibb, or as I call her Ms. Jibberooni, The best science teacher/role model I know.
Ms. Jibb was my Earth Science teacher in ninth grade, she was the person I saw first thing every morning. I would come before school started and sit in her classroom bugging her about what we were going to do that day, if I did my homework right, and normally throw in some school drama that was going around. For a woman who I rarely ever saw drink coffee, at 7:00 in the morning, she would smile and joke along with me and listen to any drama or problems I had to share with her, and give me advice on how to deal with anything that would come my way.
Ms. Jibb is one of the main supporters in my life. She helps me with my school work when she can and she pushes me to do my absolute best in school. She has shown me that if I really, absolutely try my best in school, I get the reward of having good grades to show my hard work. She is the sweetest person ever but, she is definitely not the teacher to anger. That is one thing I love about her, our personalities work great together, which makes it so easy for me to go to her for anything.
Ms. Jibb has become my best friend. She is the most inspiring woman I have met. She has gone above an beyond her job title to help me along my high school journey, and for that I thank her tremendously.
