The Benefits of Your Unique Education by Sam - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

If I were to pretend I have a popular education podcast, I would make the topic of my podcast be how to help people using the education received and put it to good use. I have lived this first hand, even as a High School Student.

My personal statement of the benefit of my education was proven this year. In the start of the new year, I came up with the idea to begin a workshop for underprivileged kids in my area with a passion for video production like me. I began to plan and organize this workshop would be a safe ground where kids can learn to use tools for effective presentations, confidence, and synthesis of information to all types of people. Video education is often very expensive and is limited in schools, so I wrote down every possible goal and Idea I had for this project to able to share my passion and knowledge and offer them opportunities without cost. Because of this idea, I started a service project that targeted kids from elementary to middle school to teach this crucial art that many can see in the real world: marketing, commercials, documentaries and more. In my course, I showed how to effectively market an idea through persuasion skills, and how to use basic video equipment. Video media allowed me to have better presentations, convince people to participate in my service projects or just bring amazing stories into the light, so naturally, I created that program and partnered with many kid centers like the Girl Scouts, Youth Groups, and Summer Programs wherever I could find. Being able to bring this program out of just an idea in my head and plan it to become something real was empowering and I feel encouraged to do more.

Using my education, I have found a prize that many can reflect from, which is why my education is so powerful. My podcast would not only help people my encouraging and influencing, but by personally giving first-hand accounts on how education can help people directly.
