The Future Awaits by Sally - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

College is a time to start one of the most important chapters of life and is a time where you can rebuild yourself. Coming from a large family, getting to go out on my own as an individual for the first time ever is very exciting. College is fresh start to a new part of your life and is something that makes me extremely eager - when the right school is finally chosen.
When asked, “What part of the college experience will you be most thankful for and why?”, a lot of things come to mind. But, there are a few things when going to college that will definitely carry on with me throughout my life. All my life, the most important things to me have been my friends and family. The people you surround yourself with make you the person that you are, and make life worth wild. When going to college this fall, the thing I will be most thankful for and are all the people I will meet along the college journey. Getting to go to a new school and getting to meet a whole town of different people will change my life. I can not wait to see the friendships I will make in college, and how those will carry on through my life with me. My parents to this day are still close with their college friends, and that makes me excited for the family I will be able to make at a school of my dreams.
Lastly, I know I’ll be forever grateful for the education I will receive. Being able to study for four years and then being able to walk across the stage graduating with a degree in something I love, will be the start of “real” life. College will provide me with a great education to let me study something I feel passionate about everyday for the rest of my life.
When I go to college this fall 2017, I know that I will forever carry the friends and memories I made, and the education I will have gained to lead my life forever.
