My New Year's Resolution by Saleha - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

My new year's resolution is to keep on working harder. Usually when someone is faced with a difficult task, he or she resolves to give up after fruitless tries. I tend to do that at times and this year I plan to not give up. Regardless of how difficult my tasks may be, be it studying for AP exams or anything else, I will work really hard to get the successful end result. This does not speak only for my personal life, but with my relationship with the community as well. I will not let my community members down. I will continue volunteering and helping out my neighbors. I will tutor more kids at my school and I plan to increase the number of my volunteer hours at the library. This year, I will push myself beyond the limits so I can get maximum benefits and success for myself and the community.
I have been tutoring young elementary school kids for the past four years. Just seeing the smiles on their faces after they understand a concept that I explain makes me keep on working hard. However,my senior year is a challenging one. In the beginning I was debating whether I should continue tutoring or not. There was so much work to be done, but I decided to continue tutoring because there are other students who really need help. I decided to work harder and fit in my studies along with helping out the young children who do not have anyone to help them in their coursework. Now I am still tutoring and working harder to fit everything into my schedule. That is my resolution: don't give up and work harder for better success.
