A Creative Outlet for Young Minds by Sage - October 2015 Scholarship Essay

Yes, schools and colleges should most definitely require these activities; it would not only help the institutions, but it would also provide assistance to students in more ways than one. Many do not see the importance of extracurricular activities during school. I believe that these activities create a better learning environment for children and young adults. It always improves teamwork, communication skills, and a person's passion for whatever they love. This pass time broadens the horizon for many students with a certain talent in sports, volunteering, and/or club and organization projects. Without these activities students would be left without a creative outlet for their mind and ideas. Learning is the main building block of educational success, but the variety of extracurricular activities expose students to different environments in which they can find a part of themselves in something they love doing.
Schools want their students to gain experience and to help them develop their abilities whether it be in education, leadership, sports, etc. If schools required these activities, students would be able to easily see what they consider their strengths, weaknesses, and inspirations. Not to mention, schools themselves would have more student involvement which would create a better environment for the both students, teachers, and supervising officials.
