Leadership skills are some of the most important skills necessary for college success. College is a place for people to extend their education in a specific course of study, and for a large percentage, comes right after graduation from high school. In high school, students are equipped to easily succeed by being provided with information and due dates by teachers, rules such as dress codes to teach social etiquette, and bulletins to keep the students updated with important news. All the students are within four years of age of each other, and generally live in nearby neighborhoods. In college however, students come from all cities and states, and occasionally from other countries. they are of all different ages, races, and personalities. College professors expect the students to keep up to date with assignment due dates and school events, because of their adult age. Being successful in this eclectic and challenging environment requires being independent, confident, and having leadership skills.

Being a leader includes making logical decisions to benefit the decision maker, as well as his/her peers. Having the leadership qualities to complete a project efficiently while complying to the needs of others will help a student to succeed in college, by being able to meet deadlines with quality work, and the ability to work well with others. These skills are also transferabble to jobs and careers, since all jobs require being able to communicate with other people.
