My experience with Key Club and what it means to make a difference by Sabrina - January 2024 Scholarship Essay

Key Club is a community service organization that focuses on various aspects of community service. Over the past year, I have participated in community service projects such as food and toy drives, cleaning up parks and beaches, and creating cards for children in hospitals. Initially, I joined Key Club as an active member. However, I was among the first three students to form a subcommittee to rebuild the club. I actively participated in all early rebuilding efforts and agreed to be the 10th Grade Representative. As a result, I recruited 10th-grade students to be part of the club, which helped me gain more members.

The most significant contribution I have made to my community is organizing a food drive with Key Club. We collaborated with Feeding America to help distribute and collect food every Saturday for two months. For the first time, I exhibited my leadership skills as one of the first volunteers to participate in food distribution at the local church during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to collect a significant amount of supplies to help provide food for those in need.

Being a member of Key Club helped me to develop leadership skills that I didn't know I had. I made many positive changes in my community at Key Club. It was a great experience for me, and it is something that I will always cherish and remember.
