My Academic Goal by Sabrina - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

I am a futuristic person, which means that my academic goals for the upcoming year will allow me to accomplish my career goals in the long run. In the 2022 to 2023 school year, I will strive to succeed in my classes by getting all A's. This will be quite challenging, but I believe that I can do it. Last year, I was only able to accomplish this goal for the second semester of the school year. However, with new knowledge and strength, I am set to complete this daunting task.

Maintaining all A's in my classes will allow me to apply for colleges confidently and attend the college that is best fit for me. At college, it is a dream of mine to major in psychology. Having a brother with autism, I was intrigued by the intricate structures of the brain and its various functions that I learned about in my AP Psychology course last year. I have always been interested in why my brother acts differently from other people, and this course helped me comprehend his disorder on a deeper, scientific level. It was so gratifying to finally understand what was happening inside his brain. Majoring in psychology will expose me to the most recent practices and research and train me to help empower children on a much higher level. Having shadowed many professional therapists and being interested in their careers, I hope to attend a masters or doctorate program in occupational therapy, so I can seamlessly turn my passion into my profession.

Once I become an Occupational Therapist, I would love to start my own private practice and give back to True Love and the rest of the special needs community by providing free or low-cost therapy services (including physical therapy, speech therapy, psychological evaluations, music therapy, and neurofeedback therapy) to those who cannot afford such resources. I understand how exorbitant these services can be, and it is my goal to improve the accessibility of these necessities for individuals with disabilities of all kinds. But first, I must obtain all A's in order to gain acceptance to a university of my choice.
