Born to be a Business Major by Rylie - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

What do you wanna do when you grow up? It is a question many of us have heard thousands of times; however, I have always had an idea of my career. From a very young age I enjoyed learning and working with others, I am almost a senior this has not changed. These characteristics have only continued to grow and by the time I reached junior high I knew I wanted a career in business.
At the age of thirteen I obtained my first job at a local diner, I got recognition for how efficiently I worked and within a month or so received my first ever raise. This definitely sparked a fire inside me. I discovered I loved working and of course enjoyed making money. At the age of fourteen I was working 50-60 hours a week in the summer, others looked to me for direction and I loved being a leader. I have successfully trained multiple employees who are all great workers due to my guidance. To this day I am still at the same job and have had the opportunities of working for other businesses around my city. I have worked, trained, and learned from many amazing people and I know being a leader is something that is meant for me.
My sophomore year I began to take CCP classes through a local college all working towards my major in business administration. Right now I am looking to be done with my freshman year of college by the time I graduate. This has not been easy and I have had many late nights of work and although I miss my eight hours of sleep I have no doubt that this will all be worth it. When I grow up I will be a business major.
