I am interested in a Sport Management program that will help fulfill my long term career goals. I decided early in high school that I wanted to pursue a golf career. Playing golf and leading our high school golf team has been a great recreational sport. My love of the game and passion to build the sport for junior golfers has driven me to select this major. When I was younger it was difficult to find affordable golf programs. Playing in golf tournaments and taking professional lessons are expensive and difficult for a middle class family to afford. Growing up in New England often required travel to warmer locations to stay competitive playing year round golf. A Sports Management degree will set me on the path to provide community opportunities for junior golfers.

As a first year student, I am uncertain about the specific career path within the golf industry. Tournament planning, coaching or a golf school, becoming a vendor representative or clubhouse management are all areas of interest. The golf industry offers diverse opportunities, each catering to different aspects of the sport. As a Sports Management student, I feel Emmanuel College equips students with a competitive skill set, including marketing, finance, and management.

Being a part of the Saints athletics men's golf team adds another layer of experience to my journey. Competitive golf not only refines technical skills but also instills qualities such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. The camaraderie built on the golf course becomes a network that will likely prove invaluable in the professional realm.
