Putting the Puzzle Together by Ryan - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
If the roles of the teacher and student were reversed, I would want to be a Math teacher. I would want to teach middle school or high school for a private school. I have always loved math since I was little, and I always was above average. I liked math because I found it satisfying to have a puzzle and then fit the pieces of the puzzle together. In math there is only one right answer, there might be different ways to get there but in the end it's all the same. I would want to be a teacher to show kids how math can be fun.
I would want to be a pre-algebra teacher. This was the class I enjoyed most and was best at. It was understanding concepts that helped me throughout my high school career. I would show the students the importance of learning concepts that would be useful in life.
My students would like me as a teacher because I would demonstrate fun activities that they can participate in and still learn. They would be fun games that they could tell and share with their friends. I would be a teacher that would be invested in my students. They could ask me any questions and I would be committed to helping them. Just like my math teacher did with his students.
