What I will do with my degree by Rose - June 2020 Scholarship Essay

I am ready to create and innovate to increase the health and well-being of the general public. This past year, I have had a lot of experience in the healthcare industry. Not as a clinician or other worker but as a patient. I have a chronic illness. I’ve had many visits to the family practice doctor, specialists, and laboratory clinics. During this time, I have realized the demand for not only clinicians but also for administrative staff who collect records, bill insurance, and build data in the patient's file. On the back end, all of this information needs to be cataloged, sorted, stored, and retrieved digitally. This has created a demand for systems engineers, IT workers, data miners, etc.

COVID – 19 has taught us a lot about what the Health Care Industry needs and does not currently have. I want to provide support to those who need it most on a daily basis by analyzing, experimenting, discovering, reasoning, or theorizing potential solutions to existing problems within the industry. I will have the ability to conduct research and write about how to create positive change in society at large and on a smaller corporate level. I choose to pursue this Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration because it will prepare me to interpret, design, express, teach and otherwise present information on contemporary topics.

Specifically, I want to work to increase access in rural areas to quality affordable health care. I want to make existing technology more effective and efficient and to research and develop new technology to give health care providers the ability to produce results faster and and with more accuracy. I am ready to accept the challenge to create positive change in my life and in the lives of others.
