School Spirit Redefined by Rochel - November 2019 Scholarship Essay
was always that student that floated through high school, eagerly awaiting the day when I would be grasping my diploma, without looking back. High school was solely for socializing with the annoyance of authority ensuring we followed rules we did not want to follow. This was my attitude until twelfth grade where everything changed.
In my senior year, I was appointed Student Council Advisor, a job for a select few. I was in charge of creating school spirit, organizing activities and trips, inspiring other students and much more. This was a year-long investment that I was ready to commit to and when I commit to something, I go the extra mile to ensure it comes out well. I spent hours arranging trips, composing songs, decorating bulletin boards and overall providing warmth, energy, and excitement in our busy school schedule.
Looking back, I can say the year was such a success. Now, three years later, my freshman who are Student Council Advisors, say they had such an amazing year and they are doing all they can to emulate what we had done. I had paved the way for future years to come. I had given the school spirit my all and enjoyed the fruits of my labor. Walking out of my graduation, I was surprisingly sad to say goodbye. I truly impacted the school year leaving them off on a positive note.
