Early birds are not the only ones who catch the worm. by Rocelia - January 2019 Scholarship Essay

“Beep, Beep Beep!” The sound that makes me want to catapult my phone across the room. All jokes aside, I am undeniably a night owl, who actually drinks coffee at night to lengthen the time I’m awake. Pretty ironic, since that is typically a morning routine. Which goes without saying, that I am more productive at night for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, I feel more attentive and relaxed at night. I tend to do all of my work late, due to the fact that I am a current high school student and have developed a routine where everything is done at nighttime. It helps to stay focused in a quiet and peaceful environment, where my family is getting ready to enjoy their sleep, I am only beginning the most essential part of my day. I love the feeling of productivity, it boosts my adrenaline and makes me feel like a tremendous amount of work is being accomplished, so having a relaxed environment truly helps.
Following, I personally trick myself by saying, the more work achieved, the quicker we can get to our comfortable bed. This is something that helps exceedingly, because even though I am used to sleeping late, who doesn’t want to lay down and relax for a little right? Of course, this nifty trick can’t be used if you’re an early bird. This helps motivate me and strive to take care of more work, not only faster, but more efficiently, ultimately allowing me to accomplish a satisfying chunk of it.
Finally, I am more prone to remember important facts while doing work at night. For example, if I have an exam for math or science per say, I study at night, so that I may be more likely to remember facts and answers. It really helps my performance the following day, thus proving to me that I am without a doubt not an early bird.
In conclusion, I get the most out of being a night owl and I definitely enjoy life being one, due to the fact that I feel more efficient and productive. Where the early bird is getting ready to doze off,the night owl is only beginning the most beneficial part of their day.
