The Path to Becoming Better by roberto - August 2022 Scholarship Essay
To be a successful student it is important to understand what areas require improvement. Having an understanding of what attributes I currently possess and how to use that to the fullest extent is vital when working towards an academic goal. This following academic year my goal is to reach a grade point average of at least a 3.5 or higher.
In order to reach a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, I need to take time management seriously. Time management will allow me to have an understanding of how productive my day can be. By having a written schedule with sections dedicated towards studying, lectures, work, and other activities I will be able to understand how much time is being put to proper use. Sticking to a schedule that I will create will also allow me to build a routine that overtime will gradually improve my study habits, sleep schedule, work schedule, and more, which will result in a better academic performance.
The purpose of possessing a 3.5 grade point average or higher benefits me in various ways. The first benefit is that it will allow me to not fall behind in any of my courses. This is crucial to me, as a transfer student attending a new campus, I will need to adapt to a new environment and workload. Being comfortable and knowledgeable with my new courses will allow me to retain the information that a four year university has to offer. This holds importance towards my long term goal of furthering my education and eventually earning my master's degree.
My goal for the following academic school year will create history amongst my family. It will allow me to become the first college graduate in my family. As a first generation Mexican-Honduran-American student, to be a college graduate would set the inspiration required to allow those younger than I, to follow in these footsteps. To become a graduate will allow me to become an educator and a therapist, two goals that I hold closely to my heart. The academic goal of achieving a 3.5 grade point average or higher, is only the foundation for the long term success that it will bring me.
