Memories by Roberto - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
First off, something I would tell that freshman coming into high school to enjoy everyday of the next 4 years because they will go by really fast and the next thing he/she knows, they'll be a senior applying to colleges. By telling the freshman to enjoy high school like it's their last day on Earth does not mean he/she should go to parties and get drunk and have "fun," no what I mean is to go out with your friends and do something together like an amusement park, the beach, cook something together, or just hang out together at someones house and play a board game! You don't need to be going to dangerous raves or parties where drugs and alcohol are present to have a good time, but rather spend those moments doing a positive reinforcement rather than negative. Spend your 4 years joining clubs that you like and interest you and try to do sports too while in high school! The friendships and skills you'll gain from clubs and sports is worth it! Also, try to be an active member in helping your community because in the long run colleges will love that and you will too! Yeah I know volunteering sounds boring and not cool, but trust me helping out at the local blood drive or at the shelter can make you realize the injustices in the world and make you want to do everything in your power to help out the weak. I've been there before.
Besides from volunteering for your community, you should also spend as much time as you can being with your family no matter what! They've been there throughout your entire life (they did bring you to the world no?) and have helped you in the ups and downs of life and they deserve the love, support, and affection you'll give to them. Family should mean a lot to you because they are literally the only group of people on this entire planet that you should entrust 110% no matter the issue. I understand you might have had some butt ins with your parents but forget about that! Forgive them and yourself and you'll see that they scold you not because they want make you feel like crap but they want you to learn to make the same mistake because guess what?! They've already been there and experienced the consequences from that action!!! So next time they scold at you try to maintain yourself and be cool and admit your mistake because once you do they'll see you as a mature person and give you even more respect!
So in conclusion kid, focus on school, keep those grades up, stick with your friends and family and when it comes to your senior year, you'll have no regrets about redoing a past mistake and those 4 years will be the best you've had yet! Cheers and I wish you the best of luck out there! Make me proud kid!
