My Dream College by Robert - August 2020 Scholarship Essay
My dream college is Virginia Commonwealth University located in Richmond, Virginia. VCU is uniquely the most diverse college out of the colleges I have considered to attend. Within the large population of students, 45% are minorities with international students from China, India, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This rich diversity, I believe, is great for creative problem solving and great preparation to enter the workforce within the world.
VCU is a sprawling urban campus in the middle of the city that still somehow manages to make it feel smaller than it is. I spent two consecutive summers on the VCU campus for their pharmacy pipeline program as well as their engineering program and had the benefit of experiencing both campuses, the Monroe campus and the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). VCU uses a free shuttle to connect both campuses. Students may also walk or bike the route, weather permitting or if time allows.
How VCU ranks in so many programs is also an awesome characteristic that makes them number one for me. My focus is pharmacy and VCU is ranked 20th in the country. My goal is to be admitted into the honors program which will guarantee my acceptance into the Pharmacy School on the Medical Campus of Virginia.
I would be remiss if I didn’t include the delicious variety of foods on and around the campus which is also a huge plus for any future student at VCU. Every trip I take to Richmond, usually ends with food from the campus. The variety of food choices is impeccable!
These four characteristics have definitely attracted me to Virginia Commonwealth University and I believe that the unique environment is right for me and thousands of other students.
