College Professor of Property Law by Robert - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I were a college professor I would teach property law because nothing interests me more than the rights people have to property. My ultimate goal is to become a Real Estate Attorney in the state of Florida, and my passion for this field of law grew when I started learning property law last year. I enjoyed learning all of the aspects of property law during my last two semesters. I feel like I learned a lot of valuable information from ownership rights to intellectual property. Although I do plan on becoming a lawyer after passing the bar exam, I truly enjoy the thought of teaching. It would be an honor for me to demonstrate to future lawyers how important property law is. It is also a goal of mine to work as a Real Estate Attorney for twenty years, and then become a professor of property law. Hopefully, with all of my legal experience, I can give students real life examples from my personal life to help them learn even more.
I would be honored to be a professor and be able to teach individuals a skill that I have mastered. I believe that the best way to show mastery of a skill is to teach it. I remember being in awe of my property law teacher last year because every question that a student asked was answered with excellence and perfection. I could tell that she had spent so much time and effort into learning the subject of property law that she could teach it with relative ease. I was inspired to one day become like her, at least in the aspect of her wealth of knowledge. As a student, I always saw my other classmates as my siblings. As a professor, I would show compassion and care for my students as if they were my offspring.
As a professor, I would love to have the chance to see the process of taking a group of people who know nothing about a subject and turn them into masters of the subject. It is interesting to look back at last year as a first year law student. I have made tremendous gains in my legal knowledge from a year ago, and I plan on continuing to improve that knowledge. Even as a professor, I hope to be much more knowledgeable about property law in my tenth year of teaching than I was in my first. I would love to be impressed by students who enjoy learning to constantly obtain more information each time that I see them.
Lastly, the best aspect of being a professor is being a part of the success of your students. It is one thing to see students succeed in class and do very well on tests. I would be even more proud as a professor to hear that a student of mine did excellent on their Bar Exam because I helped them teach their subject. Ultimately, the biggest honor would be to have a student that becomes an a successful attorney. My goal is for all of my students to become successful attorneys in whichever branch of law that they choose. In addition, I understand how hard it is to be a lawyer and actually go through all of the challenges in order to work in the field. For those reasons, seeing the success of my students will show a reflection of how successful I am as a professor. Ultimately as a professor, I could lead the way for the next generation of young lawyers that are going to change lives for the better and improve society as a whole.
