Where I See Myself in 10 Years and How My Education Will Help Me Get There by Riley - March 2025 Scholarship Essay
Ten years from now, I see myself running a successful social media business, working from home, and having the flexibility to spend time with my family. I want to create a career that allows me to do what I love—helping brands grow online—while also having the freedom to be present for the important moments in life. I picture myself managing multiple income streams, like social media marketing, digital products, and maybe even a blog or YouTube channel.
My education will help me get there by giving me the skills and knowledge to navigate the fast-changing world of digital marketing. Learning about branding, content creation, and analytics will help me create strong marketing strategies for businesses. I also plan to take courses on entrepreneurship and e-commerce, which will help me build my own online store where I can sell digital products like Canva templates and social media planners.
But beyond the technical skills, my education will push me to grow as a person. I know college will challenge me to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and develop better communication skills. Since I’m not naturally outgoing, I hope my time in college will help me gain confidence in networking and public speaking, which will be important for running my own business.
In addition to my career goals, I also want a lifestyle that gives me freedom. I don’t want to be stuck in a 9-to-5 job where I have to ask for time off just to enjoy life. I want to be able to travel, spend time with family, and be fully in control of my schedule. By learning everything I can about social media and business now, I’ll be setting myself up for that future.
Of course, getting there won’t be easy. Social media is always changing, and I’ll need to stay on top of trends, take courses, and adapt to new platforms. But I’m excited for the challenge. In ten years, I see myself thriving—doing work I love, having financial independence, and living life on my own terms. And I know my education will be the foundation that helps make it all possible.
