A Passion for the Past: Pursuing a Career in High School History Education by Riley - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

As a senior in high school, I have spent a lot of time considering my future career goals and what I want to study in college. After much thought and research, I have decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, concentrating on social studies, with the ultimate goal of becoming a high school history teacher.

I have always been passionate about history and find it fascinating to learn about the past and how it has shaped our world today. I believe that history is an important subject that provides us with valuable lessons and insights that can help us make better decisions in the future. I also believe it is important to understand our past to understand our present and prepare for our future.

In addition to my passion for history, I also have a strong desire to teach and make a positive impact on the lives of others. Teaching is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling careers, as it allows you to share your knowledge and passion with others and help them grow and succeed.

By majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in social studies, I will be able to combine my love for history with my desire to teach. This major will provide me with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively teach high school students and inspire them to learn and grow.

Overall, I am excited about the opportunities that await me in college and beyond as I pursue my goal of becoming a high school history teacher. I believe that this career path will allow me to make a positive impact on the lives of my students and to share my passion for history with others.
