Chris Gardner by riley - October 2021 Scholarship Essay

Have you ever been homeless? Have you ever been Hopeless? Have you ever been scared? If you were ever any of these things did you give up? Well, Chris Gardner didn't. Chris Gardner was poor and scared but he never gave up and was always optimistic. Chris Gardner taught me many lessons including the fight for your dream, never give up, and always be optimistic.
In the movie, the pursuit of Happyness, Chris Gardner had an unpaid internship at a brokerage that caused him and his son to fight for a place to sleep and for food. Chris's wife had left him and it was just him and his little boy. Throughout the whole movie, Chris went through many hard times but he always was optimistic about the experience. He protected his son and worked hard through his internship. At the end of the day, everything ended up working out. He got the internship and was able to provide a good life for himself and his son.
I have learned from Chris Gardner in an experience I have had to go through. this past year, 2020, my mom was challenged with mental illness. She ended up leaving our family fighting her depression. Throughout this six-month experience, I was optimistic. I told myself that everything was going to be okay, I was there for my family, and I helped my dad around the house. I learned to forgive and to be grateful. I also learned how to love and the worth of love.
I am grateful for my family and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had. Just like Chris Gardner, I thrive to be optimistic in life, to make the most out of what I can!
