"Thinking Outside the Box" by Riley - October 2018 Scholarship Essay
There is no sure meaning to the phrase "thinking outside the box." Everyone has their way of describing these four specific words. To me, "thinking outside the box" is an understatement. This may sound weird, but I have heard this many times in my life, which made it lose its complete meaning and understanding. "Thinking outside the box" means to me that you are ahead of the game and understand what is going on in that particular situation. You understand everything and have a more excellent knowledge of the topic, which helps you think more in-depth.
For example, if you're at school sitting in math class working on a math problem, you may get stuck on something difficult. You try to figure it out, but you just can't. You ask your neighbor for help and lucky enough, he/she understands the situation. Your neighbor helps you understand it by going more in-depth. More in-depth than you already knew. After he/she is done explaining it to you, you understand it more than ever now. Another example can be just a meaning of a word. These are great situations for showing someone "thinking outside the box" can mean a greater understanding of something in particular. You do not have to prove this phrase in just a math class, it can be proven for just about anything that can have a deep comprehension.
