Preparing For The Unknown - The Final Exam by Richard - May 2016 Scholarship Essay
In life we are given challenges based on the field of nature in that current state and time. For example when we are infants we are given the challenges of mobility, and communication with our parent and caretaker. We break through that barrier with the assistance and guidance of out caretakers and parents with what they think is cuddling, and loving and the infant but in reality they are presenting observation studies for the instant. "Monkey see, Monkey Does" so to speak. They will mimic and take after the most repeated teachings in front of them.
As life continues we eventually reach the period of which we finally attend school whether it be in pre-school or straight into kindergarten. There are obvious challenges presented to us with pop quizzes, learning the new material presented to us with , ABCs, number counting and all the academic knowledge you receive all the way up to high school and college level courses. The most pressing challenge though would be 'The Final Exam' of the course(s) you are taking. How we do prepare for these exams? Technically everything we have done in our academic times has led to these moments, but again what method do you go with? Flashcards, peer groups, solitary studies, a mixture of them all.
In my time I have found that when it comes to studying for exams I don't always have the answers on which method to go about for the different subjects. However generically speaking my most common method of studying was either in a peer group or one on one studying with one of my peers. This method is most effective for me because in life we all are given the gift of thought and perspective therefore my point of view of something or knowledge of something may be different then yours. I may be able to pick up on something quicker and be able to simplify an explanation of how i came about the answer easier than how a textbook might explain how to find the answer yourself. This can be implemented in the variety of skill sets and field of education that the world has to offer in today's day and age.
I also found it easier to be in a peer group of variety. Perhaps one 'jock', one 'cheerleader' and one 'nerd' can come together one day. The 'nerd' can help the 'jock' in science and the 'jock' can give tips for physical education and the 'cheerleader' is secretly a math genius and is able to share her knowledge.
This method always proven effective for me based on the examples previously mentioned because I always like to see the input given by others, especially when proven useful in the field of study. Each student is unique and when we come together and share out knowledge in a positive and productive setting we can begin to make a difference in the world and education as well as the world itself. I mean after all isn't that the goal of education. To make ourselves better educators to make the world a better place, especially with the No child left behind act.
All in all, look to your peers. Share your knowledge, form a circle group. Reach out and speak up. There are always others looking to learn as much and as hard as you might and we can make the world a better place. First step though. Pass that final exam.
