Why I Would Teach Archaeology by Rhianna - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I were a college professor, I would teach archaeology. I love the subject and do intend to complete a degree in archaeology in the future. I do not think enough people have an interest in learning about past civilizations and the people who lived in them; that is why I would want to teach archaeology at a college. I want to teach people about long since dead people, their languages, how they built their buildings, and how they lived.
I find the idea that we can learn about ancient people from what they left behind; even if it is just some drawings on a cave wall; to be immensely interesting. I would love to teach others about this subject if only to spread awareness of it. I also love the idea of being able to answer questions, and question in return. I believe that by teaching a subject, you learn more about it. Learning and teaching what I have learned brings me a sense of accomplishment, and I would absolutely love teaching others if I had the opportunity. Even if I only taught one class, I would still choose a class about archaeology over any other; even if it meant getting paid less.
