Living for the Future by Remington - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

As I begin my journey of "growing up," I have always seen myself as someone who would go to college. For almost all of my younger education years, I never felt a calling toward any career path. As I began my senior year, I slowly felt drawn to the medical field. I started learning more about job opportunities in this field, and I felt a love for nursing. After I noticed my desire to be a nurse, I looked more into it and found an even closer love towards labor and delivery and/or neonatal nurses. Ever since I found my love in nursing, I decided to look deeper into it. I have gone on a college tour at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where I toured the nursing department and felt an instant connection with the professors and the overall environment.
I will graduate in May of 2023, and following that, I plan to attend Southwestern. In the fall of 2023, I will begin my path as a college student. I hope that I can work ahead, and possibly take summer classes if needed. I have taken several college classes already, so I feel more ahead and prepared. I plan to work on campus and around my sophomore year, begin nursing school. I expect it to be time demanding and stressful, but I also believe if it is what I am meant to do, then it will be worth every minute. I will have to go a couple of years through nursing school and should graduate in the year 2027.
