Some days... by Reis - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
“Some days I amaze myself and some days, I put my keys in the fridge.”
When I came across this quote I immediately thought of math class. Why is it that yesterday I knew exactly how to do a problem, figure out the answer without a hitch and the next day I can’t seem to remember 2 +2.
Math is a class that I have had to work harder in than say Science class. The need and variety of the mathematical formulas can be confusing and hard to comprehend the “why” behind them. On the other hand, Physics is applied math and I seem to understand the relationships within the problems better than just numbers, problems and formulas. I do realize that sounds funny and on the verge of unintelligent since so much of Physics is Math based.
As I head to college next year, I am sure that I will have many unfortunate opportunities of “putting my keys in the fridge” as I will be adjusting to college and playing football on the collegic level. My hope for my freshman year is to have at least one more opportunity of amazing myself than to provide comedic entertainment for my fellow co-eds cause I know that they will surly call me out on it and keep track.
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship.
