In this day and age, technology is utilized and integrated into almost every day of our fast-paced lives. From the time we wake up in the morning turning on a light switch, to using our phones, algorithms in technology dictate the way we live today in modern society. During my freshman year in high school, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of taking a class called “IIT” which was a basic introduction to the works of technology. I believe that this class would be extremely useful for anyone that wants to know about the foundations of their devices, not only for tools in the workplace or school, but for security and safety reasons when using the internet.
Certifications in Word Document, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint are offered conveniently, that allowed me to refine my techniques used for school projects that enhanced my ability to not only earn an A from this class but gain experience for using these programs in the workplace. This will look good on your resume, as it shows a desire for in-depth knowledge in an ever-expanding technological world; your interviewer would see it as an asset in their business making you a wanted candidate. These documents are accessible anywhere with the use of the internet, which means not having to carry around a suitcase of loose papers on a big trip or worrying about accidentally destroying the “only copy”.
This elective, is again, only the basic knowledge to a whole world of information that is used in daily life, such as an introduction to the structure of web pages such as HTML and a little bit of security that prepares us for this digital age, where anything is possible. Thought you were safe at home? Think again, hackers and malware can easily infect your device, causing havoc. This class gives you the advantage to look out for signs of danger online. After all, every seemingly flawless product has its catch.
