An English Teacher I Would Be! by Raven - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
As time goes on, new things are being created, discovered, and built. College students are doing spectacular things to better the future. Medical students are working on the cure for cancer and other deadly diseases. Technical engineer students are working on building more advanced robots to put in the work place. Architecture students are working on designing and building some of the largest skyscrapers a person have ever seen. So many wonderful things, right? For sure, a student gives their professor credit, but I believe an English professor is most important. Therefore, I would want to be an English professor.
I would want to teach English for several reasons. For one, English is favorite subject. It’s not unusual to find me in a coffee shop reading a book. Also, you can find me tutoring someone with their English homework. There have been countless times where my classmates come up to me asking for my notes or for me to tutor them. Secondly, English teachers are very important. Without our English teachers, students wouldn’t know how to read, write, spell, or how to make pronunciations. People wouldn’t be able to say a simple sentence without their English teachers! Thirdly, English teachers show you how to speak professionally for your career. Let’s think about it. How many times did you teacher get on you for using bad, incorrect grammar? He or she did that because a professional employer wants an employee that sounds professional.
It doesn’t matter what subject you teach though. You could teach English, math, science, or history. It doesn’t matter because all teachers are equally important to a student’s future. Students wouldn’t have nearly as bright of a future without someone to teach them, so thank you to the teachers that make futures bright!
