My 2016 Student Goal Essay by Raul - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

Everyone has a goal but they want to start at the beginning of the year to see the results in the end. Some have succeed while others are beginning to quit after a month or even a few weeks into the New Year. I hardly have any New Year’s resolution but after hearing what some people said about me, hurts me because it was personal. Not only people was telling me, I was also seeing it myself. My New Year’s resolution come into three main goal.
My number one goal is helping my family, which include my mom, dad, and two younger sisters, lose at least ten pound before I leave to college. I use to remember when everyone in my family use to be skinnier but now since everyone is “living the United States life”, they are gaining weight that I hear them breathing heavily which scares me. I know this year barely started but I still remember last year, my mom and dad use to buy at least four to five boxes of pizzas every Friday so I put a stop to that. I made sure this year (or at least until I leave to college) my parents will stop Pizza Friday’s and make Park Sunday happen. I want my family to leave a healthier and happier life but if this continues, I know where they will end up.
Although I want to help my family lose weight, I too want to lose weight myself. My goal is to weigh two hundred pounds by the end of April. The beginning of my senior year, I use to weigh two hundred and thirty-seven pounds. Since this year started, I started to work out more, eat right, and crave down any junk food as I can. I am doing anything I can to help myself out but I am not the only one, my older sister is as well helping me out and I’m thankful. I now weigh two hundred and seventeen pounds and I am so happy.
My third and final goal I want to accomplish is getting less distracted by my second semester to help my focus on my homework, classwork and other school related activities. I have actually been distracted so many time, rather it’s eating, watching TV, or playing my video games. I’m starting slowly with distractions since I live in the United States which we depend on technology on everything. I have already taken off my cable from my television which actually gave me a big step off from distractions. Although distractions is my number thing that stops me from school, I won’t let it stop me from what I want to become.
This will help me become an excellent student. There are somethings and some people that wants to stop me but I will make sure that won’t happen. It’s like what people say, “Just because there’s a goalkeeper, doesn’t mean I can’t score a goal.” I want to accomplish on what I stand for and I will do anything to get that goal done.
