My Basketball Dream by Raul - February 2019 Scholarship Essay
My dream job is to become a head coach for a collegiate basketball program. Ever since I was a little kid, basketball has been my one true passion. I remember it like it was yesterday; in the third grade during the spring time I told my parents, “I want to play more basketball.” It was just as my parks and recreation season had finished up and my parents could immediately tell my love for the game and my yearning for more. They decided to sign me up for a club basketball team and my desire to learn, improve, and have fun with the game of basketball grew.
Now as I am close to the end of my highschool career, I ponder on the lessons, memories, and happiness this game has given me and it makes me eager to pursue my dream job. I plan on becoming a college basketball coach and my college plans will help set me up for this completely. I have been blessed enough to have received multiple scholarship offers to continue to playing career in college. I plan on using this opportunity to learn more about the game, have fun, and make connections with coaches that may hire me in the near future. I know this coaching journey will be hard, but so has my playing journey and I would not rather have it any other way.
