Advice from me to me by Rami - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Francis Bacon, an English Philosopher among many other titles, once stated "The worst men usually give the best advice". I believe this statement holds some merit as many times the worst people are simply people who have been through the worst of situations, living to see another day. This is a quote that I keep near by which commands me to be my best. I consider the "Worst" man to be myself; myself on the days when I feel that I am at my worst. When I am up all night studying for a test that I miraculously am unprepared for again, when my character slips and I find myself in a bad situation, whenever I feel disappointed in myself, these are the days when I have the ability to give the best advice.
The best advice that I could give to myself would be to always remember those days when you are at your worst, remember the disappointment you felt, the nervousness that you have allowed to fester inside your stomach. Because at that point, you would do anything to make that feeling stop, but it is simply too late. Do not allow yourself to be lured into that situation because you know that once you are there, you can not get out.
Regardless of the advice I give to myself, with a hectic college and work schedule, it is destined to happen again. In these times it is crucial to remember that you have done this before, and you're still alive today. Lay out the worst case scenario and you will see that it is not the end of the world. Just keep your head up and keep moving.
