Lesson learned by Rachelle - August 2013 Scholarship Essay

I have learned many lessons over the years and am extremely appreciative to all my proffessors, academic advisors, and staff for putting up with my questioning and misunderstandings. However, thinking back, I would have to give this honor to my fourth grade teacher, who taught me that taking the time to overlook things first will always save time for you in the end. His lesson was taught by handing out an assignment with 50 questions about yourself, your interests, and your family, etc.               Briefly scanning the sheets I thought what a great teacher, he is really intersted in learning about me. A few minutes had passed when children starting passing their papers in. I thought they musn't have much to share about themselves. I diligintly kept working, answering all his great questions, along with about 3/4 of the class. Finally reaching the last question I read "Thank you for taking time to look over your asssignment before answering, now put your first name only at the top of the page and turn this in to your teacher". Twenty- Three years later I still keep that lesson with me, I  look over everything I am given to make sure it is done correctly, and save time in the end.
