Dear Scholarship Committee,

I am sincerely honored to have the opportunity to apply for the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest. My name is Rachel Moreno, a rising college freshman, and I am beyond excited to begin my journey towards my medical profession at one of the distinguished universities in Texas which include Baylor University, University Of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Charles R. Drew University Of Med & Sci.

Academics has always been one of my highest priorities and I am proud of maintaining a 3.39 GPA in High School despite my intensive studies in health-focused courses, including Health/Medical Technology, Medicine, Pre-med, and Pre-nursing. I highly believe that this scholarship will immensely contribute to my higher education and help me soar to greater heights in my medical journey.

As a Hispanic/Latino woman, I fully understand the underrepresentation of my race and gender in the medical field. This has fueled my aspiration to break the barriers and create a pathway for others who might be hindered by similar circumstances. I am determined to provide quality healthcare services to underserved communities and bring about a tangible change in the lives of many.

My passion for the medical field was orchestrated from my interest in human health and an innate desire to save lives. It is my core belief that everyone deserves access to healthcare services regardless of their socio-economic status. With this scholarship, I plan to bring my passion to fruition by achieving my degrees in Nursing and Medicine, and to ultimately become a medical professional that puts empathy and compassion at the forefront of practice.

As I prepare to enter college as a first-time freshman, I am keenly aware of the financial responsibilities that higher education entails. I firmly believe that acquiring this $200 scholarship will lessen the financial strain and allow me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, learning. The support from Varsity Tutors will not just be investing in my dream of becoming a female Hispanic medical professional but also in the future of inclusive and diversified medicine.

It is with immense eagerness and enthusiasm that I apply to be considered for this scholarship. I am prepared to bring in hard work, discipline, and the drive to succeed in my chosen field of study. With the assistance from the Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest, I will continue to flourish academically and serve as an advocate for medical diversity.
