The creative minds of the past have blessed us with the ideas and inventions of the future. The medical field has gone from treating malaria with herbal remedies to a successful vaccine. Doctors can now use 3D printing to produce prosthetics and implants. These technological advancements result from the collaboration of many fields of study, but perhaps the largest contribution comes from biomedical engineers.

Whether it be through the creation of bioprinting, bionic contact lenses, or robotics to assist in surgeries, biomedical engineers change the world one innovation at a time. Medicine has come a long way, and each revolutionary invention has strengthened the toolbox of doctors today. The world has truly changed with the creation of prosthetics, the performance of the first heart surgery, and the development of a transplantable pacemaker.

I hope also to change the world as a biomedical engineer. The constant improvements in the medical field inspire me to explore my future creativity and develop an invention of my own. I want to use the information I learn in school to help others and change lives. I want to use my creative mind and the critical thinking skills I have developed over the years to improve existing technology and design new devices that can be used in the future medical world.
