The importance of Education by Rachel - December 2014 Scholarship Essay
If anyone would have ever told me that I would be struggling to support a family of five without a college degree, I would have told you you were lying. The reality is that the scenario presented is very true. I wish I would have gotten an education before I got married and had five children. However, I have learned it is never too late to get an education.
I am now applying for scholarships to help fulfill that dream. No one ever told me that without a degree you can make good money, but that it would take ten years of hard work to make the same amount of money that a new college graduate starts out making. No one ever told me that without a degree, my chances for managerial advancement would be few and far between. Today, I know all these things and today I am doing whatever it takes to graduate with a degree in Human Resources and better my career for me and my family. I want my children to understand the importance of an education and to see the difference it can make. I want to be able to provide for them and accomplish this for myself.
