A Piece of Advice by Rachel - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Throughout my high school career, I have faced many obstacles that I have had to overcome. They have varied from athletic obstacles to academic obstacles, both of which were difficult to overcome, but I was able to because I knew that I was capable of overcoming whatever the issue may have been. There are many things I would tell younger students because I have learned a lot throughout my high school career. One thing I would have most definitely told them is to not wish their high school career away or want it to be over with so quickly. Senior year is rather bittersweet because it is the moment you have been waiting for, but it is also sad because it's your "last" everything before you start the next chapter of your life.
I would tell the underclassmen that your senior year is unlike any other. It starts off like it is just another school year because it hasn't really hit you yet. Then you approach your last high school dance, your last football game, your last field trip, and then you begin to realize that everything you are doing is the last of your high school career. It's rather crazy once you get to the end of your senior year because you just take a second to think back to the beginning, and it feels like it was just two months ago. The thing is, many underclassmen don't realize that your senior year flies by like no other, you just can't believe it once everything comes to an end until you start the next journey of your life.
The one piece of advice that I would give younger students is to appreciate every moment of high school they have, even though they may hate the tests, quizzes, homework, or any other downside that may come with school. It all happens so quickly and graduation is here before you know it! Senior year is very bittersweet, one minute you are eager to graduate and begin college, and then another minute you just want to do it all over again. It really is crazy and I wouldn't want anyone to wish it away.
