Alabama by Presley - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Knowing what I know now, I would give a lot of valuable advice to younger students, or people in general. We never really see ourselves learning very important lessons when we do. We never think that hardships will help us. But, they do. Learning from experiencing unfortunate things you would not wish upon others, helps others.
The first thing I would let students know, is that relationships aren't the most important. Relationships, whether it be in or out of school are not the number one thing in your life. People come and go, and if you are solely lucky enough, people will just stay. But, the reality is that most people will go. Do not put someone who may, most usually leave before your family or grades. There are so many things to take in and be thankful for, instead of focusing all of your time on someone who is not necessarily a positive variable in your life. Take care of yourself, loved ones, and grades. Very important.
The second thing I would tell someone younger than me would have to concern hating high school. Don't move to fast. High school is an amazing thing, and it will teach you a lot more than how to figure derivatives. It teaches you character. Time flies, and with this time goes school. I cannot describe the sense of nostalgia I already have for all the fun times I've experienced at my school, and I'm not even out yet. The real world seems great, but really staying with all your childhood friends does, too.
Lastly, apply for scholarships. You may think you do not have a chance at something everyone is applying for, but if you put your mind to it, you'll succeed. Sure, you may not get the hundred you applied for, but you are bound to make an impact on someone's outlook at the least. Do not hesitate. Start as soon as you possibly can. If you wait off, your scholarship results won't get back in by the time you even graduate possibly. Apply. Apply. Apply. You can do it. You can have your education completely paid off if you put your all into it.
These tips are so distinctly valuable, especially while you're in high school. I am glad I experienced these things so I can now pass on the word and make sure my younger peers succeed and display their full potential. Next time, I will know these things. Knowing what I know now, has made me who I am, and I hope to lead those who are younger than I.
