What do you plan on majoring in when you get to college and why did you choose that major? by Premiere - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

I am currently pursuing my Master's degree and my major is Forensic Science. I chose this major because forensic science has been a field that I have been interested in since I was in elementary school. When I was younger, I used to watch tv shows like CSI all the time and it was my favorite show is still is today. When I would watch CSI, I thought it was so cool how they would use things like DNA and fingerprints to piece together who committed a crime. Science was always my favorite subject but forensics specifically fascinated me the most. When I was younger, I got my mom to buy me a CSI kit from Toys R Us so that I could make up my own cases and use the kit to solve them. I decided that I wanted to be a forensic scientist and that I would go to school for it one day and make that my career. For undergrad, I attended Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia and majored in forensic science. I made the decision to go back to school and get my Master’s degree because it would give me a better advantage when it came to getting a job in my intended career field. By choosing the major of forensic science I will be able to gain the skills and knowledge needed for the field.
