Passion is Key to Success by Payton - July 2019 Scholarship Essay
Being passionate about education is everything to me. It is how I push myself to do better in school. The feeling you get when you’re in class and actually understanding what you are being taught is extremely rewarding. Although college has a greater level of difficulty the end product is so much more gratifying. I get to further my interest and learn things I’ve always wanted to learn.
All throughout elementary school we had to follow the school’s ‘syllabus’ and not venture out an explore topics you took interest in. Not having any passion or interest in what you are learning can result in giving minimal effort, barely paying attention, and eventually hating the subject. Education does not always mean schoolwork, it can be seen as watching your idol play a sport and from watching them, recreate their moves and making yourself a better athlete. Anywhere you go is a source of education, learning new words from a friend who is bilingual, learning new things from friends who focus on different areas of work, and many more instances is education seen in everyday life.
In college I have the ability to pick my own major and pick the classes I want to excel in without having the burden of classes I do not like. Between high school and college, I feel college has been much more effective seeing as I can learn what and how I want. With these classes and how in depth the professors go, I can share this knowledge to those who are interested and help those in my classes if they are behind or confused. Being passionate about education has made me strive to learn more, study to retain the information, and use this knowledge in the professional field. Some take advantage of their education and it is unfair by not showing up to any of their classes and copying peers work. These people do not value their education when those less fortunate strive to get any higher education which is unfair. These people become the unfavorable coworker who complains about his/her job and never puts 100% effort.
Being passionate about education is a key to being successful in your professional career. As a woman going into healthcare, I have been told, women make great nurses or women can help make the patients feel better. While I respect nurses and everything they do, I want to push the boundaries and prove those who doubted me wrong. I will use my passion for education and being successful to push through these difficult classes, study harder, and have a great professional career helping those who need it.
