Mrs. Swalwell by Paul - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Have you ever had a dream about a teacher that was really nice and actually cared about the students. Well I have in High school where classes are usually very hard and the teachers are usually it was nice to have at least one teacher that was really nice to to the teachers and really cared about the students. She might have been a little nerdish at the school some of the students actually made fun of the teacher. She also wore weird clothes that most people wouldn't bring to school just because it would be embarrassing. She also had a skin condition so there was no mercy on the students roasting the teacher.

Mrs. Swalwell was very different from the teacher I usually knew because she was really enthuastic about the teaching and you could see that she would get excited about teaching. You could tell she liked what she was doing. He gave us a lot of opportunities to do homework and answer certain questions and then to also do the tests. that helped me because I was a slow test taker. He also gave us a lot of extra credit which no other teacher I knew in the school was doing.

One thing different from Mrs. Swalwell was that she was very nice and actually cared about the students which no other teacher I have seen in the high school tried to do. It helped me open up to the teacher more and not be shy to ask questions in the class. I could tell that she was just trying to know me just because that is what she was taught to do but it helped me to be more vocal in class especially since I'm known as the "quiet kid".

I remember one day I had to give a speech in front of the class but I was really nervous about it but because she was really nice and considerate about me and she would encourage me. I decided to give the speech and got an A in the class. I thanked her for giving me the courage to speak in front of the class. That is one thing that really will be in my mind for a long time. That is one of the reasons I remember her.

Usually in school you don't really remember a class it's just something that you have to go through but in her class I actually remember it even though I graduated out of high school. Sure I remember some other classes but her class is more engrained than most other classes. One thing I remember from her door was a quote she kept on the front of her door said " Don't follow me; I may not lead; do not go ahead of me I may not follow; just walk beside me and be my friend." I may have left the high school but I still contact her all the time because she influenced me more than just the classroom.
