The Future of Education. by Patrycja - July 2019 Scholarship Essay

Ever since I was a young child, I have had a strong passion for learning new things and being in school. I was always one of those children who were extremely excited to go to school. Just seeing the back to school signs in our local Wal-Mart sparked joy in my young self. As I have grown up through the years, education and learning is one thing that has always stuck with me and drove me to become who I am today, a future educator.

I thought as a child that something was wrong with me as I was one of the only kids who loved being at school, and I could never exactly explain to anyone why I found comfort in sitting in a desk learning about long division and how the stars in space were formed. My teachers were my biggest role models as they made learning, at least for me, one of the greatest things I have ever done. That passion for learning helped me when it came to how I did in school, throughout the elementary, middle, and high school, I always exceeded in my classes and was at the top of my class. I would push myself to take more difficult classes, especially when it came to high school, and I never gave up when it got hard.

That passion that I had about school growing up grew into a want to become an educator. Teachers in our schools are one of the most important people in our lives, they give us the knowledge to go on and become wonderful, successful people. I do believe the best educators are the ones who have that strong passion for education and teaching. One of my most influential teachers was my high school band director, he was a teacher who everyone could see that he truly loved what he did. Although music teachers are not a traditional teacher, they still have a big impact on students lives. My band director made the students love being in class, the passion he showed about teaching music rubbed off on the students and the end product of our rehearsals was always beautiful. When you have that passion for education, the passion for teaching, the students you work with will enjoy what you are teaching. Even if it is a class not usually enjoyable, a passionate teacher is able to make that class something special.

This is all why I am hoping to become an educator in a few years. I want to inspire the kids I teach to enjoy learning as much as I have, and I believe I am capable of doing so because of my passion for education. I want to pass down my love for learning to future students, so hopefully, we can keep our country as a whole passionate about education. Without our kids getting a quality education, our country becomes nothing.

Being passionate about education means wanting to share that passion with others. It means wanting to better the quality of education in our world. As long as we have groups of people who help kids enjoy being at school and learning, the passion for education will always remain.
