Work Smart by Patrick - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

In 2015 I took a History course as part of my required studies at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth Texas. My instructor, Benjamin Bradley was a normal guy with a normal job, teaching part-time just to use his degree. Through taking his course I became interested in social issues and the how society works. Also, the telling of his college experience was inspiring and gave me hope for a bright college experience that hopefully includes Graduate school. He is a person to look up to, younger than me but with much more life experience, a good role model.
The first History course I took with Benjamin Bradley was in 2014, History 1301. We started at the inception of America, then looked at the subsequent events that shaped America. Although I am not a history buff, the struggle of the various social groups of prime interest. So much so that now I am looking to get a degree in Sociology to learn more about this world we live in.
Mr. Bradley got a full-time job while he was attending college, in drafting. This is a career type job that is usually the culmination of schooling. He kept a full-time job throughout his college career. Working hard and getting a full scholarship to Texas A &M for graduate studies. Getting a masters In History while maintaining his full-time job which he was still working while moonlighting as instructor in our class. I plan to take his example and apply myself to my studies and work to hopefully similar results.
A great role model helps one shape their own deeds for success. I have benefited from having such a teacher. He did not sweep me off my feet our change my whole life, he is just a great example of how to go about things in life and be successful, no matter what. A good solid American.
