Arts For The Win by Patricia - June 2018 Scholarship Essay
One of the best electives that I have taken is Arts and Crafts. In this class, I would release stress and just express myself through the piece that I was doing. In addition to this, the fact that the professor did not prejudice the students by the appearance of their art work was just the cherry on top to an amazing class. I believe that Arts and Crafts should be a required class.
Hasn’t it ever happened that one takes multiple difficult classes for the sake of having an easy first year of college and then one is beating themselves with work? Well, in this class worrying about the outcome of one’s work is not something to be upset about. It is understood that not all students have the skill or ability to do art; however, in this class neither the professor nor any other academic evaluator has the ability to deduct points of one’s grade because there are different perspectives when it comes to art.
As usual, there will students that will complain if this class were to be mandatory. I really think that it would help students have a break of all the other rushed and difficult classes; furthermore, it would help bump up their grades in at least one course. Nothing could go wrong by taking this course. Unless, of course, one does not do any work and hands in something to get it out of the way. In this case, just like in every other class, the student will have a bad grade.
Arts and Crafts are not difficult, one just has to do their part in order to do good. This class should be a required class for many reasons; however, the most important one is so that the students’ grades go up instead of down.
