Next Year Will Be Different. by Parker - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

Since the beginning of my life when asked this question I always said, ¨I will get straight As!" or ¨I will have a 3.9+ gpa!¨, well this upcoming year my resolution will be much different.
Instead of striving for perfection, I want to make positive progression everyday. Instead I will gauge my progress. I will work harder today than I did yesterday and build on my latest successes not only doing what makes me happy and will bring me closer towards my goals in the future but also through doing what is ethical and right.
This approach may seem slower and less effective however over a long period of time (which I hope my life will be) the rewards will be insurmountable to say the least.
When I look back I will no longer compare myself to others but instead to the person that I was. But instead work to become the person that I ultimately aspire to be. I will not drown in the work and servitude my dreams and aspirations will require but instead will rise above the sweet promises of distraction and sloth to become the person that I am inside. A strong mentally tough individual who not only is aware of his growth but one that is aware of his worth as well, no matter the shortcomings.
