DESCRIBE ONE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION THAT WILL HELP YOU BECOME A BETTER STUDENT IN 2016
The above question was both intriguing and exciting to me not because I have been thinking and making some plans about my future but maybe because this one required that I spell – it out for everybody to hear.
I am currently 17 years old girl who just finished her senior secondary/high school last year. I attended a technical school and was in the electrical department.
In the next 6 years time, I see myself as a married electrical engineer with 2 or 3 smart kids. Have my masters’ degree and actively involved with community development. Please give me a minute to explain how I intend to achieve it. This year as I have written my NABTEB which is equivalent to SSCE, I will write IELTS also known as the International English Language Testing System examination that will enable me gain admission and scholarship abroad. After my 1st degree there, I will opt for a postgraduate grogram immediately and once I am done, I will come back home. That will take me like 4-5years but if it doesn’t work, I will settle in Nigeria and study electrical engineering. I will like to attend MIT for my masters and I will also ensure that I am actively involved in one or more community development projects. I will join people who go to schools speaking to teenagers because such people really helped me. I will also look for charity or humanitarian organizations and offer them free services.
I am not going to be an airplane with one wing. I believe I am going to develop my social life and along the line meet my “Mr. right” and after my masters all things been equal walk down the aisle.
As an electrical engineering, I am going to develop a hydro-generator which uses water instead of fuel since the major source of electricity comes from dam; I believe it’s not impossible. This way there will be cheap stayed supply of electricity to every household without coursing much pollution and of course devoid of noise. I believe that this will go a long way in touching so many lives positively.
With the money I will be getting when I am working, I will solidify my humanitarian activities with my major targets being the teenagers. I will organize interactive talks for schools, initiate scholarships (no matter how small) organize debates and quiz competitions. In fact, anything that will impact on their lives positively.
In summary, in another 12years, I see myself more mature, more equipped and more useful to humanity.
